Re: LCD TV on a ST

I have not tested, but there are some technical issues that I fear will kill the experience.

Sure, the image is very very sharp, nothing wrong with that.

However, here's a problem; LCD TV's are progressive, that means that they want a full non-interlaced image 25 times per second. If the image is interlaced rather than progressive, it will de-interlace it, effectively giving you half the resolution and half the motion rate.

As the ST doesn't interlace but wanting 50 Hz motion rate, I fear that the LCD TV will de-interlace the image (event hough it's not needed) and give you half the motion rate.

You can imagine how much this sucks on a normal scroll text if you've ever seen a scroller runnning in 2 vbl..

Anyway, it's just a theory as I've not tested it with an actual ST. But I've seen broadcasts which have 50Hz motion, side-by-side with a CRT-TV and the CRT is just way way better. I recomend you to actually bring the ST to the shop and test with a small demo that has a 1vbl scroller or so.
