oops, lets try that again.
The mad chap is me. I wrote a couple of intro's on the ST 10 years ago and (with some reverse eng. code) could do full overscan etc. Now I design hardware for a living, and thought it should be a relatively simple job to reproduce the atari customs (and then improve the buggers). The YM sound chip was the most complex due to the nasty analogue interaction of the current dacs - the mixing is very non-linear.

I have limited access to some the original test vectors, and I can run my replacement chips in-circuit to make sure they are accurate. Going to take a while though ...

I am doing the Amiga at the same time, which is actually easier as it is so well documented ...
