Not an easy answer indeed.
I think Gwem has probably the best one with a rich and dynamic rythm and a more "alive" solo (=main melody), although I find this version a bit messy at times (too much noise everywhere).
Big Alec sounds great but overall a bit "flat", the instruments sounds all at the same volume, the rythm is a bit too much quiet, great SID-Voice solo though.
Mad Max one is very "raw", few effects as I think there was not yet SID voices at the time it has been made, so he did with what was available and we all know that a standard Yamaha without SID voices and other tricks hardly compares with a C64 SID.
So... I would say that each version is my favourite because it does great with what was available at the time it was made. But as a choice has been asked, so I would say Gwem version because of the diversity of sounds in it that hardly sounds like a poor old YM2149! :)
