It's not STe, it works on ST as well although with a bit rougher colour gradients.
Also there is no overscan, it's traditional background colour bashing.
But I have to say no, there is no better plasma. I saw it at the party competition back in 1991, and I'm still as amazed by it today.
For some technical madness, I'd recommend the Aggression RGBeast screen, that one has overscan and plasma at the same time, and also music. Omega sang a childrens song back in 1991 during the compo to make up for the lack of music.
