Hi Chuck,
well I use it to run my code. As editor/IDE I use Eclipse and VASM as assembler. It will build any project in a seconds time and then just switch over to Hatari where to a CLI (mupfel) running with an alias to start the demo. Quick and easy.
I can provide you with OS X VASM stuff, for Linux I think there are official builds on the VASM page, for Windows I don't know, maybe ggn or someone have built it? Eclipse exists for most platforms.
Here's a little video of the environment, easy to setup and only standard components so it should scale well to any OS as long as there is Eclipse, Vasm, Hatari and Make. Uncomplicated.
