an obvious trick would be palette split per line.. but i wonder if you can write 512 palette words in one HBL on the TT?
(interlacing images would also work, but doesn't make sense since you could then have 31,31,31 RGB space instead of 16,16,16)
or did you finally find that undocumented video mode you were looking for? :)
