One can also use telnet for the transfers. Or a ppp connection using a serial cable and sting. Don't do it on MiNT but TOS (and Magic?) should be alright. Also I think it's possible to get higher speeds with a serial port patch.
Anyway as evil said ethernet is the fastest option. And the most expensive and hardest to find one.
