The power supply you've got sounds ok. The maximum recommended is 12v, which is what I'm using. I've got a beta test Satandisk with 2 blue LED's which correspond with the behaviour described, but I'm guessing in your case the 'always on' green LED is the power light, and the blue flickery LED is your hard drive activity light which only flashes when the SD card is being accessed.
