mikro: our main consideration when choosing a weekend for the party is that we want to maximize the number of visitors. the majority of visitors has a 40hour/week job, so for any weekend other than a holiday weekend people will have to take days off from work, which is not always possible, or at least problematic for many.
easter is a no-go because of breakpoint. trying to compete with that event is (imho) folly and would result in a 25-35 ppl strictly atari-only party.
pentecost weekend was already booked at our preferred location
ascension weekend was available, and queen's day is on the wednesday before the party, so we'll have ample time to prepare for the party
easter, ascension and pentecost are early in 2008, therefore the party is in may. surely june or july would be preferable considering weather... but for that, we'd have to change aeon-old religious calenders, which doesn't sound quite that realistic to me ;))
