I suppose it depends on if you really want "real" numbers, or if you're only trying to make a "comparison" between 2 pieces of hardware, internet connections, etc.
Keep in mind, a lot of people (yes even DSL sales reps) have no idea what I byte or mirror are. By the end of a conversation, *I* might feel like I'm trying to sell HIM something :-P
