there is a really useful attachment which gives digital audio I/O, and another (less useful IMHO) which gives 8 audio outs.
you can also plug in a dongle which gives different dsp clocks - which can be quite useful.
i don't think you'll need an extension if dont want to use these things. the dsp clock dongle could be useful occasionally to non-musicians, but you could just plug it internally.
can't think of other things to plug in there off the top of my head.
