Have you tried the normal cli ftp program and see if it's the same? If it is, have you tried lowering the MTU?

Have you configured the netowrk properly (not just FreeMiNT) ? Eg, your router is working fine with NAT and EasyMiNT is correctly configured with gateway, dns and so forth?
