Hardware development is definately one area where supporting funds would help.
When it comes to software, I personally believe that an organised portal where as many atari authors as possible could be presented with an easy way of register the software would be of more help. Not everyone wants to use paypal, or is able to do banktansfers across borders and with a good "shopping" system, more people would register I think.
Maybe this is something for Atari.org to look into.
