I extracted the old version from CVS.
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/scummvm login
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/scummvm checkout -D2003-09-03 scummvm
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/scummvm logout
(I'm a CVS newbie, so I'm not 100% sure of what I'm doing)
Patrices diff didn't work right away on these sources, but I guess one could study the changes he did and apply them manually or something.
