It may not be of much help, but I noted that 1.16a gives sometimes BUS ERRORs when the data cache is on. 1.15.12 does not do that!
So try it with datacache off.
BTW:
I am up to search the bug, when it is a MiNT kernel bug. So any help (reproduceable errors) are welcome :)
ATM I just found that "bug" with gen.ttp from DevPac3.1
