Re: CTLink Vs. Ethernat

Well you should really read up on czuba-tech.com and nature.atari.org, and visit my site at www.janthomas.org.uk. Neither card is available currently, though the Ethernat is a little further ahead in development (the prototypes are built and are being worked on).

It seems not many really understand the difference, so I will spell it out.

Ethernat and CTLink both have 10/100 ethernet and USB. They use the same chips for both so driver development is down to a minimum. The only difference is the target machines they are designed for.

Ethernat sits on the CT60 expansion slot, and so if you are CT60 owner this is probably the card to buy.

Pros: Fastest option for CT60 users. Least use of Falcons 16bit bus in most applications.

Cons: CT60/3 owners only. I don't think the hardware remains available to the Falcon's bus if you're in 030 mode, so your 030 only apps will not be able to take advantage. (I will ask Nature this question).

CTlink sits on the Falcons expansion slot, and with the adapter (the TT2F30) it will also go into the MegaSTE and TT.

Pros: Will work with all Falcon's regardless of accelerator or not, will sit under and work with a CT60/3. Only option for MegaSTe/TT users.

Cons: Uses the Falcon's bus.
