the "LAN" port is serviced via its own exception (doesn't use the MFP). I forget the vector# but recently did write some code for it. Given that, I doubt its a speed problem related to fetching/pushing data to/from the controller. Probably a configuration problem (config. bytes sent too fast and misread by the controller).
I'd be more than happy to fix the driver if someone would kindly send me an SMP4 ;) i've wanted one for some time.
