The reason I am avoiding a 256mb card is this news item from Rodolphe:

Didier just informes me that boards with 256 MB of memory will forbid the use of other PCI boards with prefetchable memory...
Because the PCI mapping is :
- one area of 256 MB prefetchable memory
- one area of 256 MB non prefetchable memory
So to avoid these problem, I recommend to use 64 & 128 MB models only, except if you are sure to not add an other PCI card on CTPCI.
