As PeP suggests, best to install EasyMiNT, you'll save a lot of trouble to yourself.

I was using ftpd with no problem, you must install it (http://sparemint.org/sparemint/html/packages/ftp-server.html) from RPM along with inetd (http://sparemint.org/sparemint/html/packages/inetd.html), IIRC.

Then just enable it in /etc/inetd.conf and make sure inetd runs at start from /etc/sysconfig/services or so, I'm not exactly sure, but this is easy to figure out.

I tried tftp some weeks ago but with no success. I've coded my own tftp-like client/server then :)
