We thought that mono-mode can be used when speed is needed. :)

Like we said, 2-bit mode differs from the other bitplane modes in that you need to write to the ST-shifter register (ff8260) instead of the Falcon-shifter register (ff8266). Using Mikro's Videl-docs we have written translation code in VHDL that translates all Videl register writes into SuperVidel register values. Though we had to figure out a few things ourselves, this code now works really well for all standard falcon VGA resolutions, except for 2-bit modes. This is because the 'formulas' are different when you try to set 2-bit mode compared to 1, 4, 8, 16-bit modes. These formulas are quite complex relationships and since we realized that the 2-bit mode needs more investigation we would like to postpone this to later and focus on more important stuff now.
