All of the resolutions I've mentioned are rock-solid, no flicker at all EXCEPT the 16 color modes listed. But the reason why I don't care about the flicker in that high 16 color mode is because who wants to use ANY 16 color mode haha!
The 256 and true color modes listed are not only usable, but look very nice! With NVDI and with my ct60 enabled, the desktop isn't slow. I THINK it's much faster than a stock Falcon at 640x480 256 colors out of the box.
