bootsector megademo + contest
Posted by: Gunstick Jan,29.2005-00:03

I would like to create a bootsector collection. Not with the the usual "no virus here" things but the kind of "demo screen in 500 bytes" or games or anything you may have found in a bootsector. There have been fullscreens, colorshocks...

What's really needed to be coded is a menu-program which can load 512 bytes, run that chunk of memory like it would be run while booting the system (no problem until there) and then returning to the menu (ouch).

Anyone here wanting to design such a bootsector selection screen?

And for everyone else, wade through your disk collection if there's something interesting to add to the demo.

If after all that there's still place on the disk for more bootsectors, I propose a little contest for the best bootsector.

Hmm... best? Well hard to tell. We'll just vote at the end...

Also check your unused sources...
Currently I have from my own production of 10 years ago a extremely fast life simulator, mandelbrot set (<5 seconds) display and a simple silly game.

Having the possibility of over 1000 "screens" on a disk is quite cool, no?
Other problem: bootsectors with music are quite rare. Any ideas what to do? IRQ music during the whole megademo? One music per screen? And music may disrupt the correct working of some code.

Georges
PS: I mainly read in the http://www.atari-forum.com/ where I started a similar discussion.

What's the anti-troll code?
That's your personal code to be able to add comments and messages on the dhs.nu site.
Don't have a code or forgot it? Fix it here.
