maybe:
set sample start and end to the 1st "intro" sample
start playback w/ looping on
set sample start to the beginning of the 2nd "continuous" part
watch sample count registers. if greater or equal to sample start then set sample end to end of 2nd "continuous" part.

if your sample segments are longer than one vbl you may be able to watch the sample count in your vbl routine.
