hi,
maybe i'm wrong but i think you can define env variables directly in desktop, maybe even in standard TOS 4.0x, something like this:
setenv VBCC=c:\vbcc
setenv PATH=.,c:\vbcc\bin
in GEM.CNF, at least TOS4 release notes hypertext says it should be possible.
