Yeah, that's what I expected too. However, bit 7 is always cleared no matter of the joystick button state. GEM does however recognize it as the right mouse button. Strange, really strange.
btw - have you tested your joystick routs with mp enabled? I can only make the xbios vector stuff work if running in kernel space, i.e. as a device driver.. I tried the xbios joystick stuff in your cleancode archive, but it throws an illegal instruction exception at me..
