Subversion design goal was to solve CVS
shortcomings, so I guess it could.
Anyway I think the solution (if it
exists) should lie in tinkering with the
svn:eol-style property (see <http://svnbook.red-bean.com/nightly/en/svn.advanced.props.html#svn.advanced.props.special.eol-style>
in the manual).
You may want to try that in a local
repository for starters...
