Christmas releases December 24th, 2020
No Silly Venture this year, and there's a bit of a drought on new ST/e demos for the last few months.

But Genesis Project saves the day with a new christmas demo for the ST. Graphics by the ever so productive Facet and new GP members Proto and spkr. Yeap you read that right, Genesis Project just strengthened up their Atari division!

As a side note we were also sent a christmas release which is a slideshow containing music and pictures from Alexa Fesers "Atari T-shirt" music video, requires an STe with 4 MB and some media that can store 4 MB data.

Atari Fan issue #1 September 25th, 2020
Kroll writes:

We are proud to present "Atari Fan", a brand new printed magazine dedicated to all ATARI computers and consoles. Previously only available in the Polish language, this is the first issue that we are making available to a wider English-speaking audience.

All information about the magazine itself and its history you can read directly on our website, where you will also find a detailed list of articles available in this first English edition. We hope that it will whet your appetite for the kinds of articles that we will be bringing to you going forward.

Unique to this magazine is the fact that most text comes with additional information available in the form of QR codes, which will redirect to our website, where you can find materials assigned to the articles.

And yes, it's fuji all the way down! The magazine is laid out entirely on Atari computers – an Atari Falcon 030 with a CT63 accelerator card and CTPCI, with support from a rare computer designed specifically for DTP applications, the Hades 060. The whole magazine is composed using the legendary Calamus SLC 2015 "Complete Edition".

Get hyped in the meantime by enjoying this what is perhaps a first for any magazine, an invitation to its release running on a classic Atari 8-bit computer. This was created by the LAMERS group, and presented at the recent "Function" demoscene event in Hungary:

You may also enjoy this short video about the history of Atari Fan magazine by Nowy80:

September 23rd is the release date of the magazine and it will be available for purchase for 12 EUR.

All information and details can be found at, where you will soon enough also be able to purchase a subscription.

We're looking forward to bringing back this classic format with a splash, and hope that you enjoy receiving these issues as much as we enjoy making them!

It is already in webstore:

With Atari greetings,
Editor in Chief

gwEm of PHF releases Live From Cyberspace album July 18th, 2020
gwEm writes:

I released a new Atari based chiptune album. This is a bit different to normal since I used other electronic instruments synced to maxYMiser and made a sort of Atari techno.

Also I included some mixes of my normal pure YM stuff as bonus tracks.

Hopefully some will enjoy!

Sommarhack 2020 July 9th, 2020
A few days past Sommarhack, it's time to sum up the good, the bad and the ugly.

First of of all, I'd like to send a HUGE thanks to Daniel & Anders in New Beat and ET/DHS who showed up to help running the stream, without you it wouldn't have gone nearly as good, THANK YOU GUYS! <3

Secondly, mega thanks to Crazy Q/DHS and Damo/Reservoir Gods for their programming. We've got a lot of feedback on this and it was very appreciated. We couldn't have asked for better content. Crazy Q not only produced the concert, but also the background music and jingles for the entire stream. Love you guys!

Thirdly, thanks a lot to everyone who supported the party with entries to the competitions - you showed that we can break the monotony of Covid-19 isolation and do something productive. You all rock!

Atari Scene Quiz.. I had been working on this for quite a bit, trying to find questions that were not easy to Google (eg, not "who coded demo x"). By testing the quiz a few times, my understanding was that 10 minutes was way too much Google-time, so I shortened it to six minutes. In retrospect, that was a mistake, a lot of people had a hard time finishing. If we ever do this again, we'll test it on real subjects and be more generous with time.

During the stream we had some technical issues. I'm sure most noticed the big one just when the demos were about to start. Oh boy, great timing. Simply put, the stream froze and we couldn't tell where in the chain the error came from. Video splitters, video switches, video converters, video digitizers or video broadcasting software - everything looked to work OK individually. In the end it was neither of these. It was the €%/&€(/ PC acting up, the damn thing wouldn't even start up after a reboot. After some brainmelt and a cooler headed ET we managed to get it back up and finally the stream would resume. A 20 minute extra piss-pause.

When it was time to collect the votes, we had a few mails stating that e-mails with voting URL hadn't been sent to everyone. After investigating; we had sent the mail, but forgot to add the BCC-mail list. Huge apologies to those who sent in entries but weren't able to vote. That's a big screw-up from my side.

But in the end, the positive parts stand out. Great support in the compos and Atari creativity was flooding. We've learned a lot, and in case we need to exchange a live party for stream again (let's hope not) we know better how to prepare.

Check out the links below for all releases, both binary and video.

maxYMiser V1.39 High released February 28th, 2020
gwEm writes:

At the recent elite demoparty, Tathack, I was able to wrap up a new version of maxYMiser. This is mostly a bug fix release as you'll be able to see from the change log, however a global volume control has been added to the binary replayer.

GERP 2020 February 10th, 2020
This years Gerp demo party in Skövde, Sweden took place over the weekend. Apart from the usual suspects we saw newcomer group Bitbendaz release their first Atari production in cooperation with Rift.

Rift doubled up by also releasing a music demo for Atari STe machines consisting of many 'chip modules'. All those strange effect commands and short sample loops required re-programming of the Lance Protracker player.

Finally the third and last Atari release at Gerp was an invitation intro for Sommarhack 2020 made by SMFX, New Beat and DHS, running on Falcon 030.
