Tiny ArtOfNoise Player is a small utility to replay Amiga made "Art Of Noise" or "Chorus" songs on Atari Falcon computers. The program uses the AON DSP-player by Steven Tattersall / Avena and is low on CPU consumption.

It's a simple .ttp program which can be run from any enviornment, including virtual consoles in (Free)MiNT. The program outputs various information from the song headers, such as composer, date of creation, songname and more. There is a possibility to call the player with -q switch for no output at all, and can then be called from other programs for example. Source code is included for those who want to improve/change something.

Technical

Art Of Noise (or Chrorus as it was renamed into) is a mixed softsynth (ala SID) and normal "mod" tracker. It means you can mix synth "sid" sounds with digital sounds freely. Art Of Noise offers the standard 4 Amiga soundchannels (synth has 6 octaves and samples 3 octaves) and an extended 8 channel replay (6 octaves for both synth and samples).

The Atari Falcon version of AON benefits from DSP mixing of the 8 channel mode at 16bit 49.1 kHz while the original Amiga replay has 8 bits and max 28 kHz replay.

Compatibility

So far I have been able to test TAP with Standard Falcon and with Centurbo II Falcon. Our betatester har reported some unstability with his CT2, while I am not able to reproduce that on my own CT2.
The reason for writing "TAP" from the beginning is that Steven Tattersalls original player can't multitask (of several reasons).
