Ok, I heard from anonymous sources on irc that this current version uses blitter. Basicly the blitter uses 8c to set a colour from mem->reg, while cpu need 12c, so blitter is 1/3 quicker, or the cpu is 1/2 slower, whatever sounds best :)

You can also use halftone in the blitter to store 16 colours, halftone->reg is only 4 cycles. So I guess with combining halftone (using all 16 cols) plus using memory copy would result in more colours.

For example, in more detailed areas, the halftone copy could be used, and in less detailed areas the memory copy.
