Nope, I think lot of people have stop codeing on pc coz of the x86 dirty assembly (like me). That's why a new machine, more powerfull, with great assembly (ppc is really very nice) and some stuff for compat (dsp,...) will certainly make the scene more active.
For myself, I will certainly buy a motherboard, and put some cheap components with it...
