Ok let's try a fast and crappy translation for this nice project. Note I'm not a floppy hardware specialist, sorry for bad translation somtimes :)
**************************************
The project I develop allows to replace the floppy drive by a card which will be an interface between an Atari ST or Amiga and a server (PC or Mac).
Hardware features:
==================
- drive emulator + read-only floppy
- USB interface (kind of FTDI FT245BM)
- 2*1 KB SRAM buffer (8 ms of buffer)
- MFM 250 Kbits
- Features the location of read/write heads
- Features these floppy signals:
> side select (/SIDE)
> serial read link (/RDATA)
> indicates position 0 of heads (/TRK00)
> direction of head move (/STEP)
> index (/INDEX)
> drive select (/DRVSB or /DRVSA)
> indicator for good location (/READY) (Amiga specific)
> indicator for disk change (/DSKCHG) (Amiga specific)
Software features:
==================
- Based on FTDI D2XX Direct Drivers
- Tested on Windows 2000 / XP
- Runs with MFM standard formats (compatible IBM/Atari ST) and Amiga
- Can read several image disk formats:
> Atari ST: *.ST and *.MSA
> Amiga: *.ADF and *.DMS
> multi-machines: *.IPF/Caps (with constant bit rate for the moment)
> coming soon: *.STX/Pasti
How to use it:
==============
A server transforms the data from a disk image into data understandable by the floppy controler of the host machine: different GAPs and utile data coded in MFM. Once all the tracks are encoded, the server sends by packets a MFM stream in a cyclic way corresponding to the track requested by the interface card. The data transfert is designed to emulate any track length and any rotation speed.
Nota: the project is still in the pipeline and its author is making a cleaner version of the schematics. He is also making the routing of the card.

What's the anti-troll code? That's your personal code to be able to add comments and messages on the dhs.nu site.
Don't have a code or forgot it? Fix it here.
