Hi,
thanks for all the comments!
I'll try to answer a few things

do.
The code can be faster, we've used a CPU-profiler to optimize the 3D so the heaviest parts are useable. Some code (the chunky2planar, MPEG Audio) is very optimized. In the end it's about finding a compromise between codespeed, time we're willing to spend doing a demo and how many prods we want to release per year. I guess this demo shows such a compromise pretty well.
> If you used the DSP, what for?
MPEG Audio Layer 2 decoding. 0% CPU used for that.

No the Falcon cannot do it like Amiga with independent bitplanes. And even if it could, the parallax screen is a little trickier than that. It's actually doing subpixel scrolling, the background layer scrolls a 1/4 pixel per frame, and the foreground 1/2 pixel. The foreground also blends with the background creating some sort of fake-antialias. It's using about 80% cpu at 60 fps.

MPEG Audio.
From Earx on pouet:

This is not quite correct. When we went to that deserted jail-mental asylum to photograph textures, we were a little to late in the day and used a flash. That wasn't very good, if we had used the pictures as they came from the camera it would have looked like a kindergarden picnic. So we had to darken and even it out a bit so it got spookier. It wasn't done to hide bad rendering.
However.. there is a little mask-filter over the room and prison house which indeed is there for adding a little distraction from rendering bugs and big texels :)
Thanks again for the comments,

What's the anti-troll code? That's your personal code to be able to add comments and messages on the dhs.nu site.
Don't have a code or forgot it? Fix it here.
