Don’t worry, I’m alive and kicking ;-)
But I no longer work on zdesk since my last email on the MiNT mailing list( month and month ago).
I owe you an explanation about that( and why I did not respond to mails lately).
As you said, 1 year ago, I found the motivation to recode on Atari( thanks to the work of Vincent Rivière on GCC, the high traffic on the MiNT mailing list but mainly thanks to the ACP project).
I therefore decided to code a new desktop from scratch. I thought it would be nice to have a computer as exclusive as the Firebee with good desktop.
After 3 or 4 weeks, the result was nice. I was especially proud of the responsiveness and «reliability».

Everything was for the best in the best of all possible worlds but I became disillusioned.
Firstly, I was very very disappointed by the Firebee.
Personally, on the hardware, I have no preference. Coldfire, Arm, 68k, PowerPC, I don’t care. I just needed MiNT and an AES.
But include all the old Atari interfaces and ports( like the ASCI/SCSI, keyboard, mouse, etc..) That's a bit much!
Some people have tried to explain that these ports would be rarely( never?) used, that the computer would be more expensive, etc... but it was that or nothing.
I mean no offense but I really felt that the wishes of users were not very important for the hardware developers( it may be wrong but that's what I felt).
At this point, I lost a part of my motivation.
But the final stoke was the bugs in the OS itself( and/or Aranym).
I'm embarrassed because all coders had to deal with this bugs but without going into details, sometimes it was possible to circumvent, sometimes not and I was really stuck in my work.
Every day, I discovered a new bug but the straw that broke the camel's back was the problem with the function Fxattr().
For days, I worked on the thumbnail cache( for a desktop, I couldn’t do like in zview and recreate the thumbnails every time). The cache update should be relative to the modification date of file.
The problem is that the date informations returned by the Fxattr() function are completly buggy.
At this point, I was pretty angry and disgusted( the previous days, I spent hours on the XaAES code to fix a bug in the toolbars. It was no longer a hobby but a boring job) so I dropped the project and everything related to atari( email address included).
Let's be clear, I’m not complaining, I just explain why I no longer work on zdesk.
