SOMMARHACK 2017
JULY 7 - 9

  Game competitions
Like the three past years, we'll be holding gaming competitions of classic Atari 8- and 16-bit games. The games in question are Eliminator on the ST and Attack of the Mutant Camels on the XL.

Atari ST game competition

Eliminator
A little bit of Trailblazer meets shoot'em up. Released in 1988 and just like JMP's other ST title, Nebulus, it's an ST classic for sure. JMP also did a lot of nice demo screens for the ST.

People who played this on the C64 might be surprised by the soundtrack which is nothing like the MoN one there. Still it suits the game pretty well .

Last year we finally managed to beat GGN in the Obsession and Dropzone games. Be sure he'll be coming back with a vengeance this time around. You better come prepared.

Atari XL/XE game competition

Attack of the Mutant Camels
One of Jeff Minters all-time classics. The Atari XL version is very well made and if you've played this on another platform, there are not much to tell, just kill the Camels!!

The game is using the XL hardware rather nicely with smooth scrolling, raster sky/floor and trademark Pokey sound effects.
