Yes of course, I'm not saying it's useless code. I'm just saying that it's useless code for my specific use :)
Btw when you developed this, did you use real hardware or an emulator? Some modules does not sound the same on a real STE as on Hatari, there is a problem with volume settings. I can hear that volume is set only occasionally, and usually only on one channel. I added a couple of lines of code to change the background colour when the timer C code is running, and I can see that it runs just as often as on Hatari. Maybe there's a timing problem when writing to the LMC registers. If I comment out the instructions that writes to the LMC the modules sounds identical on Hatari and the real thing.
Btw a side effect of changing the background colour when running the timer C handler is that I can see how much CPU it's using. Not very much, usually less than one scanline. So for an amateur demo/games-"coder" like me this means that I can use screensplits with reasonable CPU-usage without moving the volume/bpm-stuff to the VBL :) So I will not spend much time on this, atleast not until I have to.
