So you are experiencing the hangs after you have played a routine and you are resetting the LMC1992 registers back to normal, right?
Is there any sort of chance that the replay routine just recently had written to the Microwire interface, using another code sequence which didn't wait for the transfer to complete, and the transfer still was in progress when you attempted to perform set_LMC1992?
